Patch Notes
Alpha 0.3.3
This release comprised many smaller updates. The final details are summarized below.
- Substantially revamped the game logic behind the scenes.
- Fixed all the bugs caused by the point above.
- Added music when the game starts.
- Added an option to cap the framerate to preserve CPU cycles.
Alpha 0.3.2
- Added Bughouse.
- The four way game modes now have a team option.
- The player who has been at a table the longest is now the table host. The host can
change settings without creating a new table. Changing table settings will disable
the ready flag of any players seated at the table.
- Added a private table option. The table host can invite and kick other players.
Players cannot be kicked while the game is in progress. Private tables are shown
in gray, and private table for which an invite has been received is shown in red-orange.
- The server now uses the capitalization entered in the login screen and not the capitalization
used to create the account.
Alpha 0.3.1
- Moved the Crazyhouse placeable pieces to the side. If you prefer the old position,
you can revert it in the preferences screen.
- A sound is now played when the game starts. You can disable this in the preferences
screen.
- Added a titlebar icon to the login screen and main window.
- Temporarily disabled selection of chat text. This helps stop the random scrolling
behavior.
- Single clicking the tray icon brings up the notification window.
- Sorting the player list by rating no longer puts players in your lobby at the top.
- Fixed the /re command.
Alpha 0.3.0
- Added Crazyhouse and Four Way Crazyhouse.
Alpha 0.2.4
- Clicking on a player from observer mode now observes the game from that player's
perspective.
- Fixed a crash that occurred after leaving a table.
Alpha 0.2.3
- The chat now displays a notification when a player joins or leaves your table.
- Added a minimize to tray feature. If you minimize Tempest to the system tray, Tempest
will display notifications when players connect, tables are created, etc. You can
customize the notifications in the Preferences window.
Alpha 0.2.2
- Added a preferences screen. Access it through File > Preferences. Currently users
can enable or disable piece selection and set a maximum square size (so that Tempest
can be maximized without having giant pieces). More options will be added in the
future.
- Board buttons are now rendered with the default Windows style. This makes it much
easier to tell which buttons are enabled and disabled.
- Right clicking on the player list now shows a menu letting the user sort the list
either by name or by rating.
- Running the game for the first time directly from an Internet Explorer download
should now work properly.

- Chat is now set automatically to Table when joining a table.
- Piece timers are now rendered behind their respective pieces.
- Players can now sit at a table while the game is running.
Alpha 0.2.0
- Added Fast Four Way.
- Changed the color of the dark board square to offer better contrast with red four
way pieces.
- Significantly improved bandwidth efficiency of games.
- Significantly improved rendering performance of pieces.
- The board now expands to fill the full display area.
- Reverted rating colors to the standard color tiers.
- Added a ratings legend.
- Added the ability to ignore other players.
- Fixed a bug where the board UI would not update if a player disconnected.
- Clicking a piece while it is selected now deselects the piece.
- The players list now shows how many players are connected.
- Provisional ratings are now adjusted less aggressively.
- Removed the superfluous ability to name tables.
Alpha 0.1.2
- Fixed the player list sorting bug (for real!).
- The player buttons inside a table now refresh properly when you sit down as the
black player.
- Games are now rated by default.
- Renamed "Lobby" to "Table".
- Added a Bug Report button to the menu.
- You can now join a table by double clicking it.
- Double clicking a player in the player list brings you to their table, if you are
not already at a table.
- Implemented the "click click" style of movement. Single clicking on a piece will
select it, allowing you to single click on the desired destination square. Right
click to cancel. If you click on another of your pieces, the new piece will become
selected instead.
Alpha 0.1.1
- Fixed a potential server crash when games end.
- Fixed a bug where the interface showed the wrong player(s) sitting at a board.
